Clermont is a city in Lake County, Florida, United States, west of Orlando. The population was 29,358 as of 2012. The city is essentially residential in character and its economy is centered in retail trade, lodging, and food and beverage establishments, which are tourism oriented. The historic downtown district is still much as it was around 1960. It is part of the OrlandoKissimmeeSanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Florida Citrus Tower, one of the first constructed Florida landmarks, is located in Clermont. The tower celebrated its 50th anniversary in December 2006. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.5 square miles (30km2). 10.5 square miles (27km2) of it is land and 1.0 square mile (2.6km2) of it (8.54%) is water.
