What Makes Orlando Such a Special Place to Live
If you have ever wondered what is so amazing about Central Florida, I can help you get a better understanding about some of the incredible things that make living here as wonderful as it truly is. There is more to our region of Florida than tourists and theme parks. When you get off the beaten path and explore a bit, you will see just how diverse this area is, and how much there is for just about any lifestyle or family. We have some truly unique natural areas which offer experiences that you can’t get anywhere else. We get plenty of excitement with our sports and recreation opportunities also. There are many ways communities gather and connect, living side by side, with caring and fun.
When it comes to getting back to nature and spending some time outside enjoying the scenic beauty of our region, we have plenty of options worth checking out. Just north of Orlando we have the second largest nationally protected forest with Ocala National Forest. Over 600 square miles offer you hiking, fishing, camping, all the outdoor recreational activities you can imagine. If you are a cyclist, you will want to take a ride up Sugarloaf Mountain. This is THE Orlando mountain. This part of Florida is more flat than not, Sugarloaf offers bicyclists a great uphill challenge. Wekiwa Springs State Park is paradise for canoeing, kayaking, and swimming. Located along the headwaters of the Wekiwa River, this special part of nature will take you back to the Florida of the original native tribes. This pristine piece of nature is minutes away from Orlando.
If you are a sports fan, Central Florida is a great place to live. Not only do we have Daytona Beach and the International Speedway, Orlando has its share of local teams you can support. You can get season tickets to catch the Orlando Magic, or Orlando City Soccer club. Football is represented with our collage games, the Citrus Bowl, and starting this year, the Cure Bowl games are highlights of the year. Any fan can enjoy live sports year round. For your own sport experience, did you know you can go zip lining above the Orlando Zoo? This is an amazing activity the whole family can enjoy, and truly a unique Orlando attraction. If water sports are your thing, a day trip to Crystal River can offer you an experience like no other. This stretch of Central Florida is where you can swim or snorkel with Manatees.
There are a variety of uniquely Central Florida places to experience, things you will want to do over and over again. East of Orlando in Claremont you can visit the Presidents Hall of Fame where we have our own replica of the White House and Wax figures of our past presidents. While you are there stop by for a stomping good time at Lakeridge Winery where you can take your turn stomping some grapes. Known as the birthplace of American wine, there are events and festivals happening at the winery throughout the year, a regular family outing to be sure. For a tasty treat, and family fun, be sure to take the whole family to the Old Spanish Sugar Mill just outside De Leon Springs State Park. You will get your griddle to make some pancakes as each table has its own griddle. This makes a great start to your day in the park.
There are so many more things I want to share with you about Central Florida.
