New Homes for Oakland Park Community
There is a nostalgic Florida that many people are seeking to reclaim for themselves and where they live. Residents long for a return to the charming neighborhood where you actually know your neighbors, and come together as a community. Many want to get back to a time when our homes were a part of the natural landscape, not taking it over. If you are one of those people, you will want to know about the Oakland Park community just outside of Winter Garden, Florida. This community has been certified as a Green Development, working with the environment of the area, retaining many of the older trees, building homes in line with the natural flow of the landscape, and including plenty of open spaces, trails, and parks. All of these aspects come together to bring you a close knit, beautiful community.
Oakland Park has just begun adding new homes, another 158 lots are set to be built; adding to the 150 homes already there. The new homes will range in price from $300,000 to $1,000,000, and will include a lakefront property for the first time. A model lake front home is being built first and is expected to be ready in the spring of 2016. Oakland Park homes have a distinct architecture style designed to encourage community interaction on multiple levels. With large front porches and outward facing interiors, as well as rear facing garages, there is a pedestrian friendly feel to this very walkable neighborhood. The idea of these features is to harken back to historic old-Florida charm, something being sought by many.
There is more to Oakland Park than great architecture styles. Being committed to the care of the environment, the homes have all been built to green certification standards of the FGBC (Florida Green Building Coalition), ensuring residents live in a healthier environment, and even save money on energy costs. The same approach will be taken with the new homes being built in the next phase. Arborists were brought in to oversee the transplanting of significant trees, giving them new life through the development of the community parks and green spaces. All the landscaping done in the neighborhood includes native, drought resistant plants limiting the use of pesticides, fertilizers, and water. With the West Orange Trail running through the community, it is the main street and offers 22 miles of hiking, biking, and walking at your leisure. The trail connects to nature as part of a network of trails around the lakes of the area. It also connects to community as it leads to historic downtown Winter Garden. There are incredible neighborhood focal points such as Lake Brim, Lake Apopka, and Medowmarsh Park, which has a community pool.
